David Beckham at Sequoia's on the Georgetown Waterfront Last Night...ladies swoon
Sat, 08/11/2007 - 2:09pm

That's right, Beckham dined out at Sequoia's in full view of a city that filled RFK stadium just to see the injured player hobble onto the field. One might feel sorry for America's new acquisition as he tried to eat dinner with friends, including former Olympic star Kobe Jones, while being inundated with requests for photo ops. Thankfully he took the attention in stride and even smiled when Lisa Audi, Kelly Caraway, and Kelly Price asked him for a photo.
"He was really nice about it. We were asked not to bother him by the bouncers, but we just couldn't resist", said Lisa Audi. "I think we got there just in time because after we got our picture the bouncers shooed the mob of girls away and let him eat in peace". Read more »

Fri, 07/20/2007 - 6:18pm

I’m not the thrifting kind. Mostly because I don’t have the patience. But a bargain is a bargain and when hosting a friend from out of town who makes thrifting her number one passion, off we went thrifting on Saturday afternoon. Read more »

A Saturday Stroll through Mt. Pleasant
Thu, 06/14/2007 - 11:32am
Mt.P. Keep your eyes out for this little white bumper sticker on the backs of cars and motor bikes because you are soon going to want to follow it home. You have to really love a place to put a neighborhood bumper sticker on the back of your car and few areas in D.C. can match the devotion and pride felt by its residents as Mt. Pleasant. Veering left off 16th and onto Mt. Pleasant Street, there is an immediate sense that one has shifted environments, arrived at a street which is more a destination than a means of getting somewhere. Park your car and start your walk north up this bustling main street. A Saturday morning stroll is the perfect way to take in one of D.C.’s most diverse, vibrant and overlooked neighborhoods. Spending the Evening at Hains Point
Wed, 06/13/2007 - 12:45pm
Having just walked down the procession at commencement, my family and I celebrated with dinner at China Chef in Wheaton and afterwards, walked through the botanical gardens at Brookside Nature Center. While some of the family members wanted to go home after a tour through the garden, my sister and I wanted to go down Southwest DC to Hains Point. Along with us on the mini trip were our cousins and nephew. Read more »

"Waitress": A slice of life and pie
Mon, 06/11/2007 - 11:05am
Waitress, a movie which this summer, has been one of the most highly regarded and praised movies to open yet, is certainly worth its many stars and stellar reviews. I was skeptical at first by all the great reviews as I couldn’t erase from my mindset the fact that this film was written by and directed by Adrienne Shelly, who also plays a prominent supporting role. Because Shelly was recently murdered in her New York City apartment, (while Waitress was in post-production), I couldn’t help but fear that the reviews I was reading were skewed in to preserve the memory of a young Hollywood talent lost. However my fears were put to rest after seeing this truly delightful and endearing movie. Read more »

Meridian Hill Park
Wed, 05/30/2007 - 3:14pm
From the sidewalk, I wasn't sure what to make of it. With its high stone walls and towering staircases, it looked so far out of place in downtown D.C. I knew it had to be worth exploring.
Meridian Hill Park is tucked into a long, meandering hill that slowly tops out in D.C.'s Columbia Heights neighborhood. Its 12 acres of northwest real estate stretch north to south from Euclid to W Sts and east to west from 15th to 16th Sts. The product of early twentieth century landscape architects George Burnap and Horace Peaslee, the nearly 100-year-old park was named after its location along the exact longitude of D.C.'s original prime meridian, which runs directly through the center of the White House.
