2 Amys Pizza Review
If you want the best pizza in town, head over to 2 Amy’s. Located between Tenleytown and Georgetown, this casual pizzeria is a family friendly place you won’t want to miss.
2 Amy’s serves only Neapolitan style pizza. To officially be called Neapolitan pizza, you must prepare the pizza in wood-burning ovens and only with certain ingredients and methods of preparation that the Italian Government outlined when they created the standard of excellence for how to achieve real authentic Neapolitan pizza. If you like fresh pizza on a thin crust this is the place for you. Never greasy or doughy tasting, this pizza is unlike anything you have ever had around Washington, DC.

The atmosphere at 2 Amy’s is extremely casual and laid-back. The black and white checkered floors are paired with small wooden tables with no tablecloths and there are no extravagant works of art on the pale yellow walls. On any given night you will see a slue of college kids and local parents with their youngsters jammed in the doorway waiting for a table. If the wait is going to be long, I recommend heading to the back of the restaurant so that you can grab a drink at the bar.
Just like the decor and the ambiance, the menu is simple, but excellent. 2 Amy’s offers some “little things,” like oven roasted olives, deviled eggs with green sauce, and a potato frittata, which are a great way to start your meal off. The portions are small so if you are with a large party, get a variety of “little things” so that everyone can get a taste. They also offer a variety of light salads that include fresh greens and homemade salad dressings. Again, these no frills starters are basic, but very good and reasonably priced.

For your main course, 2 Amy’s offers pizzas and stuffed pizzas, which are similar to a calzone, but without all the extra dough around the outside.
For pizza, I am partial to the Etna which comes with eggplant confit, olives, capers, and grana cheese. If you would like something more specific there is a create your own pizza as well as some very basic choices, like Pizza margherita, for the kids. Once your pizza arrives, it will be uncut and you can choose to either cut it up with a fork and knife yourself or cut it into chunks that can be folded in half and eaten with your hands. Whichever way you choose to eat it, the pizza is sensational and tastes like real ingredients. There is no thick crust or excess sauce to wade through.
Service at this restaurant is always fast and efficient without ever being sloppy.
In addition to serving great pizza in a casual atmosphere, 2 Amy’s pizza is cheaply priced and won’t break your bank. Definitely worth the trip to Northwest, DC. For more information visit http://2amyspizza.com/ .
