U.S. National Arboretum

The azaleas in the US National Arboretum are really a sight to see. When they are in bloom, especially in spring, they offer a sight like no other with their myriad of beautiful colors. You can see them in the hills of the arboretum, if you walk the trails or enjoy a bike ride around the facility.

Aside from azaleas, you can also go to their Bonsai houses that offer a very large collection of bonsais some already a decade old up to one that has been in-training since the 1600′s. These attractions, offer a unique experience for anyone who decides to go to this seldom visited park.

If you love nature, you’ll surely enjoy your visit to the National Arboretum. Even when its fall and most of the trees’ leaves have fallen, you could still see clusters of wildflowers in bloom. The Arboretum also can be a picnic place, so you could bring some lunch and decide to spend your whole day there. You’ll enjoy your stroll through the Fern Valley and other facilities too.

A word of advice for anyone who wishes to go here is to wear comfortable shoes since it really is a very huge place and there’s a lot of walking to be done.  Other than that, this place is pretty much a very good place to go to when you want to spend your day closer to nature and would want to see something other than museums and galleries.
