One of the best lodging experiences I have had out of all the hotels in D.C. would have to be the Melrose Hotel. It is strategically located right in the heart of D.C. between the White House, George Washington University, and Georgetown with the Foggy Bottom Metro Station close by. It is easy to get to all tourist-y type places around D.C. whether you choose to use your feet, a taxi, or the Metro.
The facilities of the hotel itself are quite nice. In 2007, the hotel underwent multimillion-dollar renovations so it is state-of-the-art. Original artwork commissioned specifically for the hotel decorates every single one of the large and spacious rooms. The view from my room was a breathtaking view overlooking Pennsylvania Ave. The bathroom was unbelievable from the marble to my personal favorite amenity – the massaging showerhead. As I rested inside my hotel room after an extensive day of sightseeing, I found the quiet and peacefulness of the room unexpected because of the hectic nature of Washington D.C.
Out of all the hotels in D.C., I would strongly recommend the peaceful blues and yellows of the Melrose Hotel. It is truly one of a kind.
