The State Plaza Hotel immediately caught my attention when searching for hotels in DC. Each room in the hotel is actually a full suite with a bedroom, dressing room and full kitchen. My daughter was enchanted by the dressing room vanity which reminded her of a princess mirror.
I brought plenty of snacks and drinks for my children to store in the full size refrigerator. My suite at the State Plaza Hotel was a central location for all of the places that my family wanted to visit.
I stayed at the State Plaza Hotel during the Cherry Blossom Festival and many of the activities are within walking distance. I walked, with young children, to the White House, the Mall and nearby Smithsonian museums, and to the cherry trees which were in full bloom. The hotel is near the George Washington University campus so we were able to walk to dinner late in the evening and feel perfectly safe. There were many students out and about and the restaurants were close enough even after a long day of sightseeing to reach on foot.
There are many options when choosing hotels in DC and the State Plaza Hotel suited our needs perfectly. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The hotel was family friendly and close to the Mall. I did not need to hail a taxi but there were plenty around for travelers in need of transportation.
